Found On The Interwebs: 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog'
I'm rarely (forgive me for starting this post exactly the same way I started the last one) in the loop when it comes to Internet content. People send me shit, not the other way around, and more often than not I'm only discovering a popular YouTube video/flash animation/OMFG did you see this girl's Facebook photos?!? months after it came into existence. So when something like Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog comes along and I KNOW that I'm one of the first to latch on, it's all the more important that I spread the word. For your benefit, sure. More for my self-esteem.
This is a good one, though. Ten plus years after the cancellation of "Doogie Howser", Neil Patrick Harris is once again playing a doctor; here, though, of the rising supervillain variety. Concocted by Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and his brothers during the WGA writer's strike, Dr. Horrible is a 43 minute musical (in three parts) about the titular character and his goals of a) joining the Evil League of Evil and b) wooing his laundromat crush. Both are compromised by Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion, Firefly), a narcissistic superhero adored by all. At times comic, at times tragic (fans of brevity call this "tragicomic", apparently), Dr. Horrible is a cool little project that's infinitely fresher than most of this summer's primetime offerings.
Originally free to watch on the website, it has since been branded by the Apple Machine and is available to purchase on iTunes. Of course there's always BitTorrent...
